The Statutes of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) govern the policy applicable to the organisation. In particular, they define the main bodies of the SNSF and the areas of competence.
The regulations and the implementation regulations for the Statutes comprehensively regulate the organisation, tasks and funding schemes of the SNSF.
The list below gives an overview of the legal bases of the SNSF in the areas of organisation, funding procedures and Swiss federal legislation. The legal guidelines for specific funding schemes can be found on the page of the relevant funding scheme (under "Funding" in the left-hand navigation).
The new SNSF terminology with regard to research categories and funding schemes, introduced in August 2011, is not yet consistently reflected in the regulations.
