SCORE - Swiss Clinicians opting for Research

With SCORE, the Division Biology and Medicine of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) promotes junior researchers in the area of clinical research. The program addresses young researchers who would like to conduct, manage and lead an independently planned project at a Swiss university. The project duration is 3 years. An extension by another 2 years can be considered on request. The financial support covers both the salary and a contribution towards research costs.

The applicants are Swiss citizens or foreigners resident in Switzerland with completed medical, dentistry or veterinary studies, and at least three years of postgraduate clinical activity (qualification as specialist desired). They have a strong scientific track record, especially with respect to peer reviewed publications as responsible author in renowned international journals.

Usually, SCORE grants have to be submitted within nine years after the state examination. Biographic reasons can allow exceptions to these rules.

Selection procedure

The selection procedure takes place in two phases. The Research Council will examine the the grant proposals and invite selected candidates for an interview.
