The NRP programme was authorised in 1975 by the Federal Council. Since then, a number of national research programmes have been launched and successfully completed. The NRP cover a broad range of scientific disciplines. They are divided into Education, Environment, New Technologies, Social Policies, Culture, Geology, Politics, Health and Medicine.
