Finding research partners via a social network

Researchers interested in the Romanian Swiss Research Programme 2011-2016 are now able to link up via a social network. By creating a new group on XING, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) offers support to researchers who are looking to find suitable partners in Romania or Switzerland respectively.

The call for Joint Research Projects of the Romanian Swiss Research Programme (RSRP) opened on 30 September 2011. Since then, both the SNSF and the Romanian partner organisation UEFISCDI have received numerous inquiries from researchers who are seeking collaborators in Romania or Switzerland respectively. As a result, the two organisations decided to launch a group geared to the needs of researchers on the social network XING. With over ten million users, the platform is the leading online business network in Europe, offering tailor-made solutions for companies and organisations.

Interested researchers are invited to log onto XING using their personal profile. They can subsequently request membership of the closed group RSRP (see link "On this Subject" below). The group, whose language is English, offers discussion forums for various disciplines, project information and direct contact details. The user-friendly navigation system supports efficient networking. Researchers can now actively use the platform till the call closes in two months' time.

Soon, a similar group for the open call of the Bulgarian Swiss Research Programme will be launched on XING.
