PIRE (Partnerships for International Research and Education)

Collaborate with colleagues in the US through PIRE

PIRE stands for “Partnerships for International Research and Education“ and is a programme run by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the US. The NSF funds all areas of science and engineering except for areas funded by the National Health Institute (NIH). PIRE aims at promoting excellent science and building research capacities through international collaboration.

The SNSF has decided to participate as partnering agency in the next PIRE call, which will be launched in 2016. This means that Swiss teams in successful PIRE applications can be funded by the SNSF.

As this is an NSF programme, proposals have to be submitted to the NSF in the US for evaluation.
