Lead Agency process with Poland

Under the Lead Agency process, a joint application by researchers in Switzerland and Poland can be submitted to one of the two national research funding organisations. The submission process is governed by the provisions in force at the relevant organisation.

In both countries the maximum project duration is 3 years.

At approximately 20 per cent, the success rate of the NCN is lower than the SNSF rate.

Applications have to be submitted in English.

Submission 2020: The SNSF and the NCN have agreed to take turns as the Lead Agency on a yearly basis. In 2020, the NCN will act as a Lead Agency, regardless of whether the larger portion of the project budget is requested in Switzerland or in Poland.

Deadline for the submission at the NCN: 15 December 2020.

The Swiss researchers also need to submit the application to the SNSF via the mySNF platform for administrative reasons by 15 December 2020. Please enter the project partners abroad as other applicants. Enter the budget of the Swiss subproject in the data container "Requested funding". For the budget abroad, fill in the budget form and upload it to the data container "Lead Agency and other agreements". You have to submit the same research plan you submitted to the funding organisation abroad. The CVs and documents listing the research output of the Swiss partners have to be submitted according to SNSF guidelines; the corresponding documents of the partners abroad are not required.

If you submit an application under the Lead Agency process to a foreign partner organization which serves as Lead Agency, you have to complete the DMP on mySNF once the project is approved, regardless of whether a DMP is requested by the foreign partner organization/by the consortium. The DMP covers all research data which are generated or used during the project and has to comply with the SNSF Open Research Data Policy.
