n) What are the Open Access rules for digital book publications co-financed by the SNSF?

Digital book publications whose production is co-financed by the SNSF must be made freely accessible in a discipline-specific or institutional repository after an embargo period of no more than 24 months (for more information on potential repositories, see Question q).

If it can be shown that Open Access publication in accordance with these rules would be disproportionately expensive (e.g. image rights in art studies), the SNSF may remove the Open Access commitment on request.

However, if they are not co-financed by the SNSF, book publications resulting from SNSF research projects must also be freely accessible in a discipline-specific or institutional repository no later than 24 months after they are published by a publishing partner (see Open Access policy of the SNSF).
