BiodivERsA and FACCE-JPI joint call for proposals

European partners from BiodivERsA and FACCE-JPI have joined efforts to organise and fund a pan-European call on "Promoting synergies and reducing trade-offs between food-supply, biodiversity and ecosystem services". It is expected that the European scope of the projects will provide added value to the research carried out. The call is also open to researchers from Switzerland.

The call addresses the following themes:

  • to what extent can biodiversity better support agro-ecosystems / agricultural production systems in terms of multi-functionality and outcomes in the context of global change?
  • which policies and governance systems can promote the emergence and support of agro-ecosystems / agricultural production systems benefiting from and beneficial to biodiversity and ecosystem services?

Scientific teams will be invited to form transnational research consortia with teams from at least three different countries participating in the call. The research proposals will be evaluated across criteria of scientific excellence and policy relevance / stakeholder engagement.

Applicants have to pre-register and submit information about the partners and the project before 16 December 2013. After an eligibility check, eligible consortia will be invited to submit a full proposal before 14 February 2014.

Projects with Swiss partners will be eligible, provided that they are pertinent for Switzerland and fit in with the overall goals of the National Research Programme "Sustainable Use of Soil as a Resource" (NRP 68) and fulfil the national eligibility rules and regulations.

Research groups from Switzerland are requested to contact the programme coordinator of NRP 68 (National Contact Point) before submitting a pre-proposal.
