Media training for researchers 2014

The SNSF supports practice-oriented media training courses for scientists in order to foster dialogue between science and the media. A course in English on dealing with the English-speaking media has now been added to the offering.

Dealings with the media follow certain rules and conventions. If you are aware of them, you can deal more effectively with the media and make your voice heard in the public arena. For this reason, the SNSF and the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), in partnership with the Gebert Rüf Stiftung (GRS) and the Mercator foundation Switzerland, have been offering special courses in media training for researchers for a number of years.

The practice-oriented courses – given by journalists and communication professionals – offer researchers plenty of opportunity to practice in front of the camera. The two-day media training courses are aimed primarily at researchers supported by the SNSF, the GRS, the Mercator foundation Switzerland or the CTI. They are also open to other researchers, however.

The media training courses in German will take place at the MAZ in Lucerne on the following dates:

  • 24/25 January 2014
  • 27/28 June 2014
  • 26/27 September 2014
  • 14/15 November 2014

The courses in French will take place at the Maison de la communication in Lausanne on the following dates:

  • 16/17 May 2014
  • 12/13 September 2014

A one-day media training brush-up course for researchers who have experience in dealing with the media or have already completed a media training course will take place on:

  • 12 December 2014 (Lucerne)

The one-day media training course in English offers researchers the opportunity of discovering the English-speaking media and their working methods.

  • 24 October 2014
