Research Council: new president of the Biology and Medicine division

The Executive Committee of the Foundation Council of the SNSF has appointed Research Councillor Urs Frey (University of Basel) as new president of the Biology and Medicine division of the SNSF. He will take up office on 1 April 2014. In addition, the Executive Committee elected two new members of the Research Council.

​Urs Frey, the future president of the Biology and Medicine division, is medical director at the University Children's Hospital of the city and canton of Basel and at the same time full professor for paediatrics at the University of Basel.

In addition, the Executive Committee of the Foundation Council elected Paul Söderlind of the Swiss Institute for Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen as successor to Anne Peters (Basel University) for the humanities and social sciences division in the area of macroeconomics and finance. Furthermore, Regina Aebi-Müller from the faculty of law at the University of Lucerne was appointed as successor to Claire Huguenin (Zurich University) for the Programmes division in the area of law. The two new members of the Research Council took up their offices on 1 January 2014.
