In response to the first call for proposals of Ambizione Energy and Assistant Professor (AP) Energy Grants, 29 young researchers submitted a proposal for Ambizione Energy. A further 15 researchers applied for an AP Energy Grant.

More candidates than expected submitted proposals in the two new schemes that aim to promote young scientists in the field of energy research.

For Ambizione Energy, 85% of proposals were submitted by researchers of the ETH domain (EPFL, ETHZ, PSI, WSL), 11% by researchers based at a university and 4% by researchers based at a UAS. 41% of all projects are associated with a Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research (SCCER).

With regard to AP Energy Grants, 53% of proposals came from the ETH domain, 7% from universities and 40% from UASs. 73% of the projects are associated with an SCCER.

The evaluation by the National Research Council will be concluded in May 2014. Future grant holders will be able to start their projects on 1 June 2014 at the earliest.
