The funding scheme FLARE (Funding LArge international REsearch projects) aims to facilitate the construction and use of instruments for major international projects in particle physics, astrophysics and astroparticle physics.
A FLARE grant covers the costs of developing, building and evaluating large-scale international experiments. The national contact persons of each experiment may submit a proposal to the SNSF, starting now and closing on 15 November 2015; the funding period for approved projects will start as of 1 April 2016.
This is the last call for FLARE during the 2013-2016 period. What form the programme will subsequently take in the 2017-2020 period is still to be defined. The following changes have therefore been made: grants will be awarded for one year only, and it will not be possible to submit letters of intent with a view to financing new experiments.
For the first time, the submitted project proposals will be evaluated by an international panel.
