The Era-Net HERA (Humanities in the European Research Area) brings together 21 research funding organisations in Europe. The joint research programme (JRP) "Uses of the Past" focuses on pressing social questions regarding identity, integration, political legitimacy and cultural dynamics. Researchers wishing to take part in the Matchmaking Event (MME) in Tallinn on 29 January 2015 are invited to submit project proposals until 14 November 2014, 17:00h. An evaluation committee of the JRP will assess the projects and communicate its decisions to researchers by early December.
The programme is open to research consortia consisting of main applicants from at least four of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
All partners in a consortium are supported by the research funding organisations of their respective countries. Applicants from Switzerland must be eligible for the funding category "project funding" of the SNSF. Fifteen places are reserved for Swiss participants at the MME in Tallinn. The invited researchers are reimbursed with EUR 350 each.
The documentation for the JRP "Uses of the Past" will be published in January 2015; the submission deadline will be in April 2015. Designed to last 36 months, the projects will be able to start in summer 2016 at the earliest.
