SNSF Research Council: president of division and four new members elected

The Executive Committee of the Foundation Council of the SNSF has elected the chemist Katharina Fromm as the new president of the Programmes division of the Research Council.

​Katharina Fromm took up office on 1 June 2015. She is a professor at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Fribourg and has been a member of the National Research Council since 2011.

In addition, the Executive Committee of the Foundation Council has elected four new professors as members of the Research Council:

Humanities and Social Sciences Division

  • Christiana Fountoulakis, Faculty of Law, University of Fribourg, in the area of law/private law replacing Andreas Furrer (University of Lucerne). She will begin in her new role as of 1 October 2015.
  • Madeleine Herren-Oesch, professor of modern history, Institute for European Global Studies, University of Basel, in the area of history (modern and most recent history) as successor to Laurent Tissot (University of Neuchâtel). She will take on her new role as of 1 January 2016.
  • Markus Wild, professor of theoretical philosophy, Philosophy Seminar, University of Basel, in the area of philosophy replacing Katia Saporiti (University of Zurich). He will take up office on 1 January 2016.
  • Marc Gruber, full professor at the College of Management of Technology at EPFL (holder of the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization ENTC), in the area of economics (business administration and organisation) replacing Alessandro Lomi (USI). He will take up office on 1 January 2016.
