Marie Heim-Vögtlin: 39 grants awarded to promising women researchers in 2015

In December 2015, the SNSF awarded 39 Marie Heim-Vögtlin (MHV) grants to highly qualified women researchers. A total amount of 8.2 million Swiss francs was allocated.

The 39 new recipients, who had to interrupt or reduce their scientific activities due to family commitments, will begin or continue their research activities in 9 Swiss institutions of higher education and research institutes. Postdoctoral researchers received 87% of the grants and doctoral students 13%. By financing a research project for up to two years, the MHV scheme facilitates the integration of women researchers in the academic environment and makes it possible for more women to pursue a scientific career while having family commitments. The SNSF counts upon the host institutions to help make the scheme a success in the long term by committing themselves to providing further financial support following the expiry of the MHV grant.
