FLARE - approval of a fourth series of applications

The ten applications approved in the context of the fourth call for proposals for FLARE will benefit from total funding of CHF 6.4 million.

The SNSF has for the fourth time evaluated proposals submitted within the scope of the initiative FLARE (Funding LArge international REsearch projects). FLARE promotes the construction and maintenance of instruments for large-scale international research projects in the fields of particle physics, astrophysics and astroparticle physics.

The ten applications approved from this fourth call have been awarded grants worth CHF 6.4 million in total. The approved projects will be able to start as of 1 April 2016. For the first time, the applications were evaluated by an international panel of experts.

This was the last call for FLARE during the 2013-2016 period. The SNSF is currently redefining the initiative in view of the 2017-2020 funding period. More detailed information will be provided soon.
