Assistant Professor (AP) Energy Grants are substantial research grants that aim to support assistant professors (or comparable positions at a university of applied sciences) who are hired to build up competences within the Swiss Competence Centers for Energy Research (SCCERs).

The assistant professors are nominated exclusively by the higher education institutions. Decisions on the awarding of AP Energy Grants are made by the SNSF. A maximum grant of CHF 1.2 million over four years may be awarded. This does not cover the applicant's salary.
