Regulations on scientific integrity revised

24/Oct/2016

Three years after appointing the Commission on Research Integrity, the SNSF has revised the relevant regulations, including the regulations on scientific misconduct.

Effective 1 September 2016, the Regulations of the Commission for Research Integrity and the Regulations on scientific misconduct were brought into line with the key changes in the Funding Regulations and the Implementation Regulations and they now reflect the experiences the SNSF has had until now.

During the revision, the term "scientific misconduct" was defined more precisely. It now corresponds to the definition currently being used within the research community. The new role of project partner set out in the Funding Regulations and the Implementation Regulations is reflected in the revision. The SNSF is also entitled to sanction project partners who are guilty of scientific misconduct.

Finally, the mandate of the Plagiarism Control Group was integrated into the Regulations of the Commission for Research Integrity. Alongside other measures, the Plagiarism Control Group is aimed at promoting scientific integrity and therefore more visible to the outside world than before.
