NRPs: Start of 2017/2018 assessment round on digitalisation

The National Research Programmes (NRPs) funded by the Swiss government generate knowledge for decision-makers and practitioners. In so doing, they contribute to solving society's most pressing problems. A series of NRPs on digital change in the economy and in society at large are currently under evaluation.

Topics for National Research Programmes are selected in a bottom-up process. Interested parties can submit proposals to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). Once the proposals have been reviewed, the Federal Council decides on the topics of the new NRPs and sets their budget based on a recommendation from the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER); the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is put in charge of implementing the programmes.

As part of its action plan to deal with the challenges of digitalisation for education and research in Switzerland, the Federal Council has commissioned the SERI to assess an NRP series on the topic of digital change in the economy and society.

For further details, please refer to the information published by the SERI.
