NRP 74: Targeted call on care@home and health care policy and management

National Research Programme NRP 74 "Smarter Health Care" is launching a targeted call. The aim is to attract projects on care provision to people with chronic illnesses at home and in their social context as well as projects on the organization and management of the future Swiss healthcare system.

The goal of the NRP "Smarter Health Care" is to study how healthcare provision is organised and used in Switzerland and point out possible solutions. The focus lies on prevention and the treatment of patients with multiple chronic illnesses. 29 projects from the first call were selected for funding. They started their research work in 2017. However, in spite of the wide range of topics covered by the projects, some gaps remain.

Well-defined topics

The aim of the second call is to fill some of these gaps by attracting research projects which (1) study the provision of care to patients with chronic illnesses at home and in their social context as well as projects which (2) evaluate the organisation and management of the future healthcare system in Switzerland.

The projects of the second call must meet these two areas.

Submission deadline for letters of intent: 7 February 2018

A total amount of 1.8 million Swiss francs has been made available as funding for the four to six research projects that are likely to be selected.

Interested researchers have time until 7 February 2018 to send a letter of intent to nfp74@snf.ch. If the proposed project is not in line with the goals set for the second call, the Steering Committee will inform the applicants by mid-March.

Applicants will have the opportunity to submit a proposal until 28 May 2018, 5 p.m. CET.
