Eccellenza
SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowships and SNSF Eccellenza Grants are aimed at highly qualified young researchers who aspire to a permanent professorship. Eccellenza allows them to achieve their goal as leaders of a generously funded research project and team at a higher education institution in Switzerland.
SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowshipsare aimed at outstanding researchers in all disciplines who have a doctorate or equivalent qualification and are pursuing an academic career but have not yet obtained an assistant professorship. They can request their own salary at the local rates applicable to assistant professorships as well as project funds of up to 1,000,000 Swiss francs for five years.
SNSF Eccellenza Grantsare aimed at researchers in all disciplines who have recently been appointed as tenure-track assistant professors at a Swiss higher education institution. They can apply for project funds of up to 1,500,000 Swiss francs for five years.
Amendments to the Eccellenza Regulations
The Eccellenza Regulations were adapted in two important areas:
- SNSF Eccellenza Professorial Fellowships:Extensions of the eligibility time window are no longer limited to one year. The extension now corresponds to the actual delay. In addition, the time window is extendible by 18 months per child (or longer if justified) for mothers with a doctorate, an equivalent qualification or a medical degree. See Clause 1.11 of the General implementation regulations for the Funding Regulations.
- Costs foropen access publicationsare no longer charged to the Eccellenza grant. They can now be applied for separately via mySNF.
