Neue Mitglieder der SNF-Geschäftsleitung: Sébastien Stampfli und Céline Liechti.

The SNSF Executive Management welcomes two new members: Sébastien Stampfli will start as Chief Information Officer on 1 November 2020, and Céline Liechti will be responsible for Finance and Internal Services as of 1 January 2021.

The role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is primarily to ensure that suitable IT and systems architecture is in place to support the development of strategic business areas. Together with the other members of the Executive Management, he is responsible for the digital transformation of the SNSF. Sébastien Stampfli studied at the University of Bern. Thanks to his work at an auditing firm, he has many years of experience as IT auditor for large companies. As member of the management board of a multinational company, Sébastien Stampfli was in charge of digital transformation and IT service provision. He will start in his new role at the SNSF on 1 November 2020.

The Head of Finance and Internal Services will be responsible for ensuring the efficient use of federal funds and forging ahead with key infrastructure projects of the SNSF. Céline Liechti studied at the University of St. Gallen and is a certified auditor. She has served on the management boards of different companies and is currently working as head of finance of a multinational company. She will start her job at the SNSF on 1 January 2021.

"In view of the financial and technical challenges ahead, Céline Liechti and Sébastien Stampfli will play an important role in the development of the SNSF Administrative Offices," says Angelika Kalt, Director of the SNSF.

Vice Director retires

The two new members will each take over part of the remit of the longstanding Vice Director, Rosemarie Pécaut, who goes into early retirement after 14 years at the SNSF. The Foundation Council and the Executive Management would like to thank her for the important work she has accomplished at the SNSF and for her exemplary commitment. "Rosemarie Pécaut has played a key role in developing essential services such as finance, IT, infrastructure and HR and in equipping them to meet changing requirements. The considerable expansion of our research funding activities would not have been possible without her work," says Angelika Kalt.

Implementing strategic orientation

The reorganisation of the Executive Management has been under way since early 2020. It will give the Administrative Offices additional capacities to implement the three main prongs of the SNSF's strategy: promoting diversity in research, thinking ahead on behalf of research in Switzerland, and conveying the value added by research and the SNSF.
