NRP 75 Big Data

​The NRP 75 supports research on a broad range of topics related to the effective, efficient and appropriate use of big data. It comprises three research modules: technical issues, societal aspects and specific applications.

The information technology module (CHF 9 million) addresses data analytics (analysis, exploration, machine learning) and data management as well as security, access, surveillance and confidentiality issues.

The module on societal challenges (CHF 5 million) studies the social acceptance of big data as well as regulatory challenges, economic and societal impacts, and educational aspects.

The applications (CHF 9 million) facilitates the development of big data applications in different sectors of society, for instance in medicine, transportation, or civil protection.
