PRIMA grants are aimed at outstanding women researchers who show great potential and hope to become professors.

The PRIMA grantees will conduct an independent research project with their own team at a Swiss research institution. The grants cover the researcher’s salary (at least at the level of group leader) and project costs over a five-year period. This competitive grant allows PRIMA grantees to enhance their profile and take the next step up the academic career ladder: a professorship. If a PRIMA grantee is appointed professor in Switzerland during the funding period, the remaining PRIMA grant will be transferred to her new workplace as research funds.
