AP Energy Grants and Ambizione Energy: 13 grants awarded in 2017

The SNSF awarded in May five Assistant Professor (AP) Energy Grants and eight Ambizione Energy Grants. A total of CHF 9.8 million has been allocated for these research activities.

As part of its initiative to promote young scientists in the field of energy research, the SNSF has awarded five researchers an AP Energy Grant. These grants are intended for newly employed assistant professors, generally within the framework of the development of inter-university competence centres (SCCER). 55% of applicants were successful. Three of the five assistant professors who received the grant will be carrying out their research work at a university and two at the EPFL. Four projects are associated with an SCCER, and 60% of the grantees are women (3 out of 5 grantees).

Eight Ambizione Energy Grants have also been awarded. 36% of the applicants were successful. Six grantees will start their projects in the ETH Domain and two in a university of applied sciences. Five projects are associated with an SCCER. 25% of grantees are women (2 woman out of a total of 8 candidates).
