Call for projects: Ambizione

Ambizione grants are aimed at early-career researchers who wish to conduct, manage and lead an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution.

Ambizione grants help researchers from Switzerland and abroad enhance their scientific profile and become scientifically independent early in their career with a project of their own. Researchers holding non-professorial academic positions at higher education institutions are also eligible to apply. The SNSF awards two types of Ambizione grants for a maximum of four years. An Ambizione grant covers the grantee’s salary and project funds. An Ambizione project grant, on the other hand, comprises only project funds.

Changes to the Ambizione regulations

The SNSF has decided that candidates must have a link with Switzerland. In addition, each contact person (e.g. a professor at the selected research institution) can only support one applicant. For further details, see the news published on 14 April 2026.

This is the last call for Ambizione. A new postdoctoral funding scheme will be launched in 2028.

Information event

The SNSF is organising an online event to present the Ambizione funding scheme on 13 August 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (Swiss time). The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Those interested can register now via the link below.
