Preliminary figures: In 2025, the SNSF funded 2,400 new research projects with 1.2 billion Swiss francs. This will allow both established researchers and early-career researchers to realise their ground-breaking ideas.

Research funded by the SNSF is of great importance to the Swiss economy and society. Thousands of projects at universities and other institutions create knowledge that enables progress and innovation. In addition, the projects funded by the SNSF contribute significantly to training the highly qualified workforce that our country needs to remain competitive internationally.

In 2025, the SNSF once again approved the best new research projects through rigorous selection procedures. The SNSF invested 739 million francs in Project Funding, which enables established researchers and their teams to pursue topics of their own choosing. It approved 205 million francs for early-career researchers and 126 million francs for research infrastructure. The SNSF also allocated funds to research programmes and science communication.
