As part of the CIFAR-SNSF partnership, a winter school for early-career researchers will be held in St. Gallen in January 2027. CIFAR is a Canada-based global research organisation.

The theme of the school is "Using Empirical Data in the Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH): Ethics, Policy and the Arts". PhD students and postdoctoral fellows can apply for the opportunity to engage with leading experts, collaborate across disciplines and build lasting international networks with peers.
Emphasising the use of empirical research, the school will explore critical questions in SSH as well as real-world implications for and inclusion of policy and the arts. Applications are now open and must be submitted by 28 October 2026.
