SNSF is relieved about rejection of Ecopop initiative

The SNSF is relieved that Swiss voters have clearly rejected the Ecopop initiative. Coming soon after the successful mass immigration initiative, this outcome means that researchers in Switzerland will not have to face further problems or insurmountable obstacles when pursuing European research collaborations.

Martin Vetterli, President of the
National Research Council of the SNSF: "The Swiss research scene has not
gained anything as a result of the rejection of Ecopop. But further damage has
been avoided. We will continue to campaign for a Switzerland that is
cosmopolitan and flexible. These are key aspects of the Swiss success
story."
