Our new CV format: How is it used by researchers?
The SNSF’s new standardised CV format allows grant applicants to highlight a diverse range of work types and achievements. How is the research community using the new format in practice?
When the SNSF first introduced the new standardized CV format in 2022, our aim was clear: to make the scientific evaluation process fairer and more transparent. In the past, the lack of standardization led to heterogeneity in the format and content of submitted CVs, making it difficult to evaluate them as fairly and as efficiently as desired.
Applicants were asked to submit lists of their entire research outputs during the last five years, which likely put a disproportionate focus on their productivity and the quantity of research outputs.
Moreover, these extensive output lists often emphasised journal articles, while in reality, the outputs of scientific research are much more diverse.
