FLARE 2021-2024: Call for proposals 2020
The SNSF is launching a call in the FLARE funding scheme for the 2021-2024 funding period.
The funding scheme FLARE (Funding LArge international REsearch projects) aims at facilitating the development and operation of research infrastructure for major international projects in particle physics, astrophysics and astroparticle physics. Two calls, at least, will be launched during the 2021-2024 period. The FLARE grants have a funding period of up to four years, starting on 1 April 2021. Project proposals can be submitted until 15 November 2020.
New features
The SNSF has made several changes to the funding scheme since the last call, in order to bring it more closely into line with researchers' needs and to simplify the evaluation procedure. For example, the condition that FLARE applications need to be linked to an SNSF-funded research project has been made more flexible. From now on the proposed projects will either have to be linked to one or more SNSF-funded projects, or to some other research grant. The evaluation procedure has also been adapted. Applicants will continue to present their project to an international panel but, in addition to this, all applications will be evaluated by at least two external experts who will provide a written review.
