Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist 2019: Submit nominations now

Award of the 2019 prize

Since 1920, the Marcel Benoist Foundation has awarded the Swiss Science Prize in recognition of outstanding research, which is of importance to human life. In 2019, the prize of CHF 250,000 will be awarded in the fields of mathematics, natural sciences or engineering. Submit your nominations now.

The Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist is Switzerland’s most prestigious research prize. It honours scientists whose work is outstanding not only in terms of quality, innovation and originality, but also in terms of its usefulness and relevance to human life.

Since 2018, the SNSF has been responsible for evaluating all nominations and for making the final selection on behalf of the Marcel Benoist Foundation and with the support of the Confederation. An innovation is the annual rotation of the prize between the fields of humanities and social sciences, the natural sciences and biology/medicine. This year, the prize will be awarded to a researcher from the fields of mathematics, natural sciences or engineering.

New Chairman of the Foundation

Since 2013, former Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann has chaired the Marcel Benoist Foundation. His commitment has raised the profile of the prize. Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, will be the new Chairman of the Foundation.
