Ambizione: 89 grants to boost the independence of young researchers

The SNSF is awarding 89 Ambizione grants to young researchers this year.

By mid-January 2017, 289 young researchers had submitted their Ambizione applications. After a two-step evaluation procedure, the SNSF awarded 89 new grants. With 32 grants (36 per cent) going to women, the targeted share of female grant holders (35 per cent) was fully achieved.

Ambizione grants are aimed at young researchers who wish to conduct, manage and lead a project of their own for four years at a Swiss higher education institution. The scheme supports young researchers both from Switzerland and abroad. Scientists working as non-professorial research staff at higher education institutions are also eligible to apply for project funds under an Ambizione grant.
