New nomination and selection procedure for the Marie Heim-Vögtlin Prize

The SNSF is reorganising the Marie Heim-Vögtlin Prize for early-career women researchers. By introducing an open call for nominations and clearer rules, it is enhancing the visibility of the winners as of 2026.
With a new nomination and selection process, the SNSF is introducing changes to the Marie Heim-Vögtlin Prize. The new procedure is aimed at improving transparency and strengthening the impact on the visibility of women in research. It includes:
An open call for nominations, allowing both self-nominations and nominations by third parties (peers, mentors, institutions)
Better defined eligibility focusing on women researchers who completed a Postdoc.Mobility fellowship or Ambizione grant in the two years prior to the year of nomination
As before, the winner will be chosen by the SNSF Programme Committee Careers.
“Ensuring disciplinary and institutional diversity”
The new regulations for the Marie Heim-Vögtlin Prize are in effect as of December 2025. The first call under the new procedure is open now. Nominations can be submitted until 16 February 2026 using the link below.
“With this reform, we aim to encourage a wide range of talented female researchers to apply, thereby both promoting excellence and ensuring disciplinary and institutional diversity,” says Donna Testerman, Chair of the Programme Committee Careers.
