CHIST-ERA: Call 2015 announcement

The ERA-NET CHIST-ERA supports EU research collaborations in information and communication sciences and technologies.

The CHIST-ERA (Challenges in Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies ERA-Net) funding scheme supports the following two subject areas in 2015:

  • User-Centric Security, Privacy and Trust in the Internet of Things
  • Terahertz Band for Next-Generation Mobile Communications Systems

Researchers from Switzerland who intend collaborating within international consortia in the fields supported this year can submit applications until 13 January 2016; the call for proposals will be published on the CHIST-ERA website in October 2015.

Within the scope of CHIST-ERA, applications can be submitted by international consortia consisting of researchers from at least three of the following countries: Austria, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), France, Ireland, Latvia, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

The proposals will be assessed by an international panel of scientists. All partners in a consortium are supported by the research funding organisations of their respective countries. Applicants from Switzerland must be eligible for the funding category "project funding" of the SNSF.

Applicants from Switzerland need to submit an administrative application via mySNF (newly under Programmes/ERA-NET) to the SNSF by 13 January 2016 in addition to the full application to CHIST-ERA. Researchers who have never been supported as grantees in the funding category "project funding" are requested to contact the SNSF before submission.

The supported topics last year were "Resilient Trustworthy Cyber-Physical Systems" and "Human Language Understanding: Grounding Language Learning". Ten projects were approved, three of which included a Swiss partner.
