111 registrations for the SNSF Advanced Grants 2022

The pre-registration phase for the SNSF Advanced Grants 2022 has ended. Registered researchers must now submit their applications by 2 November 2022.

The SNSF has received 111 registrations for the SNSF Advanced Grants 2022. For this call, the SNSF is applying the same rules as apply to the ERC Advanced Grants. Applicants whose projects were rejected in the first stage of the evaluation process for SNSF Advanced Grants 2021 are not eligible to reapply in 2022 similarly to the ERC Grant application. This is one of the main reasons why the SNSF received fewer registrations this year than it did for the SNSF Advanced Grants 2021 (270 registrations).

The number of registrations for the SNSF Advanced Grants 2022 is still higher than the average number of Swiss applications submitted in the ERC Advanced Grant calls (about 87 between 2017 and 2019).

Due to Switzerland's status as a non-associated third country in Horizon Europe, the federal government has mandated the SNSF to launch a new call for this transitional measure. The call is aimed at researchers who wish to conduct innovative, high-risk research in Switzerland. The 111 scientists who registered now have until 5 p.m. on 2 November 2022 to submit their applications.
