Call for projects: Ambizione

Ambizione grants are aimed at early-career researchers who wish to conduct, manage and lead an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution.

Ambizione grants help researchers from Switzerland and abroad enhance their scientific profile and become scientifically independent early in their career with a project of their own. Scientists holding non-professorial academic positions at higher education institutions are also eligible to apply. The SNSF awards two types of Ambizione grants for a maximum of four years. An Ambizione grant covers the grantee's salary and project funds. An Ambizione project grant, on the other hand, comprises only project funds.

Changes to the Ambizione regulations

The SNSF has decided that it is no longer possible to employ doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers as part of Ambizione grants. The maximum amount of project funding for a project duration of four years has therefore been reduced to 250,000 Swiss francs.

Information event

The SNSF is organising an online event to present the Ambizione funding scheme on 14 August 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (Swiss time). The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Those interested can register now via the link below.
