Where do our Postdoc.Mobility grantees go? Europe is the trend
The SNSF sends hundreds of early-career researchers all over the world every year to take part in multi-year international research visits. Where do they go?
For the most part, these researchers have completed their PhDs or medical education in Switzerland. They then spend time doing postdoctoral research abroad with the SNSF’s Postdoc.Mobility funding scheme. The average grant size of these 2-year fellowships is valued at around 107,000 CHF for 2021. These stays (around 400 yearly) enable grantees to acquire more in-depth knowledge, increase their scientific independence, and enhance their profiles, before coming back to pursue careers in Switzerland. They are also very important for Switzerland’s connection to the interna-tional research community.
