MAPS – Multilateral Academic Projects

As a multilateral initiative, MAPS aims to strengthen research collaboration between Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Switzerland.

MAPS is one of three funding instruments offered by the SNSF as part of the Second Swiss Contribution to selected EU member states. MAPS is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

MAPS will be implemented through Joint Research Projects (JRPs) that promote clearly defined goals, involving at least one applicant based in Switzerland and two to five additional applicants from two to five of the participating EU-13 countries. Research is carried out at the respective research facilities involved, while reciprocal visits and short stays may also be supported.

The maximum amount of funding for each team in each country is 350,000 francs for a duration of three to four years. Researchers from all disciplines are invited to submit a proposal.

Eligibility

Applicants based in Switzerland must meet the regular eligibility criteria of SNSF project funding, while each partner organisation has specific rules for researchers from the respective country. More detailed information is provided in Annex 2 of the call document.

To find suitable partners in the participating countries, potential applicants are invited to use the match-making platform in the link below.

A webinar for researchers interested in applying for the MAPS call will be organised on 11 April 2024 at 2pm (CET). You can join the webinar via the link below.
